Moving into 2015 with Pivot Cycles

In the last few months Pivot has moved forwards both in the UK and across the globe. A combination of new bike models and success for Pivot athletes has brought the brand into the mainstream.

Last weekend one of the biggest events in mountain biking happened. We had two athletes at the Red Bull Rampage: Bernard Kerr and Jeff Herbertson. Both athletes blew us away with the results they got and how well they rode. Bernard narrowly missed out on qualifying, despite putting in a breathtaking run and placing 12th in qualifying. Jeff threw together something incredible, and took 7th place in the overall standings. Both riders were aboard our Phoenix DH bike and it took the abuse manfully.

Elsewhere, our team spent the weekend at the Cycle Show. We had four bikes on display; a Mach4C, Mach6C, Vault CX and Phoenix Carbon. All the bikes generated huge amounts of attention and were featured across various forms of media. The highlight was the Phoenix Carbon which apart from being the most photographed bike of the day, featured in a BBC Interview (listen in live on BBC Radio 5Live on the 2nd October at 9pm).

It's not just our pro factory riders that are becoming more and more successful however. Matt Page sailed to victory in the Cycle Show CX racing in a tough industry class. Our very own Ian Manning snapped a great picture of him crossing the line victorious and well ahead of the remainder of the pack.

Matt is also experimenting with different wheel sizes and has decided on the Mach4C as his weapon of choice for the WEMBO (World Endurance Mountain Bike Organisation). This is the World Solo 24hr Championships. It's based at Fort William (Scotland) and involves 24 hours of relentless racing on brutal terrain. The combination of 115mm travel and 650b wheels gives the ultimate balance of maneuverability, efficiency and capability. This will give Matt the tools he need to perform at the highest level.

Roslynn Newman has also been making waves with her win at the Tour de Ben Nevis. Again, endurance is the name of the game to last the full 72km across harsh and remote Scottish terrain. The first time Roslynn attempted this epic event she completed it in 7 hours and 6 minutes after hitting the wall near the end. She had been riding a Specialized Myka hardtail but this time she was equipped with a Mach6C and ready. Despite extreme hardship and tiredness she finished the course at blistering speed. Her finishing time was almost 2 hours faster than the first attempt and swept away the competition in 5 hours, 11 minutes. This time was so quick that it gained her first place in the Women's category, a staggering feat. Find the full results here.

As well as the Tour de Ben Nevis Roslynn spent some time racing the Ladies Red Bull Fox Hunt with Rachel Atherton. It looks an amazing event and we have full footage of the event from Roslynn aboard her Mach6C here.

To compound on the success of our athletes and the publicity of the brand Pivot have launched 2 brand new bikes. The Mach4C is a 650b XC/short travel trail bike with 115mm of travel. It is the lightest full suspension bike in production weighing in at 10kg for complete bikes despite being full stealth dropper and Di2 compatible. The other major launch from Pivot is the Phoenix Carbon downhill bike. It has 203mm of travel, 650b wheels and is constructed fully from carbon. All of these features and more mean this bike is the lightest and most technologically advanced downhill bike on the market today.

As we head towards 2015 we cannot wait to further the Pivot brand even more and we look to our customer base to do that. We hope you are as excited about the new developments from Pivot as we are and we look forward to building our customer base and our level of customer service. Love what you ride.
